While loaded boxes are sorted and controlled individually based on the goods contained, empty containers can be sorted and steered smoothly in larger batches due to specific characteristics, designs and ownership. This enables a very high storage density of empty containers on a comparatively small area.
Nevertheless, specialists are needed for the handling of empty containers and all associated services: HCCR.
With our own employees, handling equipment and systems HCCR takes care of the incoming and outgoing empty containers and their provision for terminal handling at HHLA’s CTA and CTT terminals. From the empty yard onwards containers are distributed to all modes of transport and start their journey by truck, rail, inland waterway and seagoing vessel.
In our "Terminal Repair Shops" HCCR offers the inspection, repair and cleaning of empty containers in accordance with established industry standards at high quality.
As this is done directly at the terminal a time-consuming and expensive transfer of the container from the terminal to external depots can be avoided. In this way, we not only help our customers who can get back a sound container for the next transport of goods much faster and without additional moves.
We are also contributing effectively to avoid CO₂ emissions resulting from additional truck transports - thus relieving the traffic system in the Port of Hamburg in the long term.
Due to the high capacity for empty containers at the two terminals and continuous three-shift operations we are always able to serve the extensive requirements of our customers reliably and quickly. This applies to all container types.
